Letter Campaigns

Our letter writing campaigns to both provincial and federal governments are a vital part of our advocacy for justice and human rights in Palestine. Endorsed by a broad coalition of organizations—from faith groups and unions to academic and grassroots networks—these campaigns urge elected officials to take concrete action in support of Palestinian dignity, freedom, and self-determination. Whether calling for an end to arms sales, demanding accountability for human rights violations, or pushing for recognition of international law, each letter is a collective act of conscience. Together, we’re amplifying the voices of those who stand in solidarity with Palestine and challenging Canada to uphold its moral and legal responsibilities on the global stage.

Protests

Since the inception of Canadian Muslims for Palestine in 2003, we have played a pivotal role as organizers, speakers, and participants in pro-Palestinian protests across Canada. Our consistent presence and support at rallies, sit-ins, vigils, and national days of action has amplified calls for justice, ceasefire, and an end to occupation.

In the early 2000s, CMP collaborated closely with student organizations such as SPHR McGill and SPHR Concordia in Montreal, in 2010s CMP collaborated closely with grassroots movements such as the Peace Alliance Winnipeg, and more recently, CMP collaborated closely with a variety of organizations and initiatives such as Canadian Palestinian Association of Manitoba, Vote Palestine, Arms Embargo Now, and Gazan Canadians, to mobilize countless individuals, educate communities, and challenge Canadian complicity in the conflict.

These protests are not merely symbolic—they serve as powerful tools of democratic expression, drawing attention to humanitarian crises, influencing public discourse, and pressuring policymakers to act. In a world where silence is complicity, CMP’s activism underscores the vital importance of protest as a means to uphold human rights and demand accountability. Join a protest today in your city.

Action Alerts

Since its founding in 2003, CMP has issued hundreds of action alerts in support of Palestine, mobilizing communities and amplifying voices for justice and human rights. These alerts have served as a vital tool for civic engagement—prompting individuals to contact elected officials, raise awareness, and advocate for policy changes that uphold the dignity and rights of Palestinians. In moments of crisis and in ongoing struggles, action alerts transform concern into concrete action, ensuring that the call for peace and accountability reaches decision-makers. They are not just messages—they are catalysts for change, empowering people to stand in solidarity and shape a more just future.

Reunite Families

CMP is deeply committed to supporting families from Gaza in their urgent efforts to reunite with loved ones in Canada. Through legal guidance, advocacy, and direct assistance with immigration processes, CMP helps navigate the complex and often heartbreaking journey of family reunification. We believe that every family has the right to be together, especially in times of crisis. Unfortunately, the Canadian government’s current policies—laden with bureaucratic red tape, restrictive eligibility criteria, and delays in visa approvals—have failed to meet the urgency of this humanitarian need. We strongly oppose these barriers and call for immediate reforms, including the removal of biometric requirements, expansion of eligibility, and expedited processing for all Gazan families seeking safety and reunion. Compassion must lead policy.

Education and Advocacy Tables

CMP is committed to empowering our community through education and advocacy tables. You’ll find our team at countless events and public functions, hosting information tables that make it easy to get involved. We offer letters you can sign for the Prime Minister, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Members of Parliament, along with other timely petitions that amplify your voice. Our tables also feature a curated selection of books and items for purchase, as well as free educational pamphlets and leaflets designed to deepen understanding and spark meaningful conversation. Whether you’re looking to learn, take action, or connect, we’re here to help you make an impact. Please contact us if you would like us to host a CMP Table at your next event: info@cmpalestine.org.

Boycott

Boycotting for Palestine is a powerful act of solidarity that allows individuals and communities to take a stand against injustice through peaceful resistance. By refusing to support companies and institutions that are complicit in the occupation and oppression of Palestinians, boycotters help disrupt the economic and cultural normalization of these practices. Inspired by historic movements like the anti-apartheid struggle in South Africa, the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) campaign empowers consumers to demand accountability and uphold human rights. Every purchase is a choice—and choosing not to fund systems of violence sends a clear message: justice and dignity for Palestinians matter.

Advocacy Days

Advocacy in Action: Meeting with Elected Officials

CMP continues to actively meet and engage with Members of Parliament (MPs) and Members of Legislative Assemblies (MLAs). These meetings serve as a vital platform for dialogue, where CMP—alongside allied organizations—shares informed perspectives on the situation in Palestine, rooted in human rights, international law, and lived experiences.

To support these conversations, CMP provides comprehensive folders containing curated materials, including:

  • Fact sheets and timelines outlining key developments
  • Reports from international human rights organizations
  • Policy recommendations and calls to action
  • Personal testimonies and community voices

These resources are designed to equip elected officials with credible, accessible information that encourages thoughtful engagement and informed decision-making. CMP remains committed to fostering respectful, evidence-based conversations that promote justice and accountability.

Advocacy Training Days

CMP plans to hold advocacy training days. An advocacy training day for Palestine is a powerful mix of education, strategy, and action. It’s designed to equip participants with the tools to speak out effectively and ethically on behalf of Palestinian rights. Topics for advocacy training days may include but are not limited to:

I. Education and Context

  • Historical Overview: Understanding the roots of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, including colonialism, displacement, and apartheid.
  • Current Events Briefing: Updates on Gaza, the West Bank, and U.S. foreign policy impacts.
  • Human Rights Framework: Learning how international law applies to the situation in Palestine.

II. Advocacy Skills and Training

  • Messaging and Framing: How to talk about Palestine in ways that resonate across political and cultural divides.
  • Storytelling for Impact: Crafting personal narratives that connect emotionally and ethically.
  • Media and Social Media Strategy: Using platforms to amplify Palestinian voices and counter misinformation

III. Policy and Action

  • Member of Parliament Meeting Prep: Training on how to engage with elected officials, including role-playing meetings.
  • Talking Points Development: Building concise, compelling arguments for policy change (e.g., ending military aid, supporting ceasefires).
  • Group Projects: Collaborating on campaigns, petitions, or creative actions like art installations or teach-ins.

IV. Community and Commitment

  • Networking with Advocates: Connecting with others in the movement for long-term collaboration.
  • Reflection Circles: Sharing insights, emotions, and next steps.
  • Action Pledges: Committing to specific advocacy goals post-training.

These events often emphasize intersectionality, solidarity, and nonviolent resistance. Some programs even include direct meetings with Members of Parliament or their staff.
