Dear Member of Parliament,
As winter rains and cold temperatures intensify, Palestinian families in Gaza are already dying from exposure. Children are sleeping in flooded tents, and elderly people lack heat, dry shelter, and warm clothing. This is not a looming crisis. It is unfolding now.
Since early December 2025, more than 30 Palestinians have died from hypothermia, flooding, and collapsing shelters, including newborns in displacement camps. Nearly two million people remain displaced, with 850 000 at high risk of flooding across 761 camps. Children face acute threats of malnutrition, hypothermia, and disease as food, clean water, and safe shelter remain critically scarce.
Israel is currently blocking winterized tents, mobile homes, and the heavy machinery needed to clear floodwaters and sewage—supplies already waiting at the border and required under the ceasefire agreement.
I urge the Government of Canada to:
• Demand and enforce unrestricted humanitarian access, including winterized shelter and medical supplies.
• Increase emergency funding for winter relief and shelter reconstruction.
• Apply diplomatic and economic pressure to prevent aid obstruction.
• Support a permanent ceasefire to allow safe delivery of assistance.
• Protect Palestinian civilians under international law through concrete action, not symbolic statements.
Canada must move beyond words. Recognizing Palestinian statehood without safeguarding Palestinian lives is hollow. People cannot survive on statements while freezing in the rain.
Canada has both the capacity and responsibility to act. We implore you to ensure that mobile homes, caravans, and trailers enter Gaza without delay, and that our government delivers real protection, real aid, and real accountability. Lives depend on it.
